IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have a laptop with wifi capability, please bring it with you. You’ll have the opportunity to use it during the workshop to immediately apply the stuff Gail will teach us. WOW!
Here’s a note from Gail:
I’m excited to share with your writers group and meet some people face to face who I’ve interacted with on the net.
I can focus on whatever areas are the most interest to your group from the basics to more advanced stuff. If I talk about the use of tools, my experience is with Blogspot, but most other things would apply whether a person uses blogspot or wordpress or another blog provider.  The areas below are the general areas…I can cover all of them briefly and land on the areas of most importance, or I can skip some of them.
I like a workshop atmosphere where I can help people implement some of the things I talk about right on the spot when relevant.
·         Becoming familiar with the blogspot tools, customizing layouts/fonts/backgrounds, etc.
·         The type of blog that welcomes and keeps readers—the external and internal elements
·         Promoting your blog—acquiring readers
·         Writing and formatting specifically for blog readers—how writing blog posts differs from other writing.
·         I’ll probably include this no matter what I speak on: Being an Encourager to other bloggers, not a competitor.
·         How to set up a blog
·         How to check and understand your statistics/views/traffic sources
·         How to import different backgrounds and change template fonts, colors, etc. to match
·         How to use blogspot tools and gadgets
·         How to make a button
·         Where you can get legal images
·         How to get a domain name (i.e. writingontheword.com versus wow-xroads.blogspot.com/)
·         How to best label/index/archive your blog posts so they can be easily accessed

If most of your group have a blog, I suggest we work on ways to enhance their blogs to make them more user-friendly, to gain more readers, and to maximize their writing gifts on their blog.
